| Baumann looks to
spread his success on the soccer field to the rest of Dominican
athletics. |
Dominican promotes Baumann to Director of Athletics and Recreation
RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Dominican University promoted 1993 graduate
Erick Baumann to fill the recently vacated position of Director of Athletics and
Recreation.
In 1995 Baumann was hired by the university as the Head Men's Soccer Coach.
Since then, he has racked up an impressive 180-51-12 overall record with nine
conference championships, two regional championships and five national
tournament appearances. He has been named the conference coach of the year a
total of seven times by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC),
Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference (NIIC) and Lake Michigan Conference (LMC).
Baumann has also held various other titles and had countless responsibilities
within the Department of Athletics and Recreation at Dominican University. In
1996 he was named Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation and then in
2000 his responsibilities increased and he was promoted to Associate Director of
Athletics and Recreation.
Along with Baumann, there have been various other role and title changes
including the promotion of Mark White, Head Men's Basketball Coach, to Assistant
Director of Athletics and Recreation. Jeff Halsema, Head Women's Soccer Coach,
has been named Facilities Manager.
Dominican University has also made various hires in the Department of Athletics
and Recreation. Cristina Lukas has been hired as the Head Softball Coach, as
well as the department's Business Manager and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA)
and Tim Walenga was hired to be the Head Men's and Women's Volleyball Coach and
Director of Intramurals and Club Sports. In addition, Travis Brooks, an
assistant coach with the cross country teams last season, has taken over as the
Head Men's and Women's Cross County Coach.
