Benedictine women’s basketball player receives national weekly honor
LISLE, Ill. -- Benedictine University junior center Tamika Curtis (Nazareth Academy) was named to the D3Hoops.com women's basketball "Team of the Week" for the period of January 8-14, 2007. Each week D3Hoops.com recognizes players for excellence at their respective positions.

Curtis was also named as the Northern Athletics Conference "Player of the Week" for a second-straight week. For the period, Curtis averaged 21.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. She also had 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game on the defensive end.

Curtis helped the Eagles (10-4, 6-2 NAC) to a 2-1 record for the week, recording a pair of double-doubles in the process. Curtis opened up the week with 26 points and 16 rebounds, both game highs, in a 68-59 road loss to Wisconsin Lutheran College. Curtis then recorded her second double-double of the week tallying game-highs of 13 points and 17 rebounds in a 59-39 win over Clarke College. To finish up the week she shot 10-of-12 scoring 21 points and grabbing 8 rebounds in a 85-70 win over Maranatha.

Curtis now has eight double-doubles on the year. She has also scored in double figures in each of the Eagles' 14 contests.

Her 21 points versus MBBC also moved Curtis into the No. 3 position on the Eagles' all-time scoring list, surpassing Erin McGunnigal's 1,099 points. Curtis currently has 1,105 points in a little more than 2 1/2 seasons at Benedictine. Curtis is a pre-nursing major.
