Dictus named National Pitcher of the Week
Clay named honorable mention hitter

VERONA, Wis. -- Bill Dictus of Edgewood College has been named the first NCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Week for 2007 as chosen by representatives of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association for the week of Feb. 26-March 4. Rockford College's Tyler Clay was named honorable mention for hitters.

Dictus, a junior right-hander from Combined Locks, Wis., pitched a four-hit shutout in Edgewood’s second game of the season against No. 12 Wisconsin-Whitewater on March 2. In his first start of the season, he pitched the entire seven innings, struck out two batters, walked one and hit one. He was able to keep the Warhawks scoreless after escaping a bases-loaded situation in the fourth inning. Dictus was the Northern Athletics Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Clay, a freshman outfielder from Sammamish, Wash., led the Regents in hitting (.700), runs (6), slugging percentage (.900), on-base percentage (.800) and walks (4) in four games last week. Clay also had a triple and three RBI in the four game span. The rookie started off his collegiate career reaching base in his first ten plate appearances and going 6-for-6 before being retired. The Regents (2-2) split with both Pomona-Pitzer College and Lebanon Valley College in their opening week of the season. Clay was the Northern Athletics Conference Hitter of the Week.

Jake Shandri of Wartburg College was named National Hitter of the Week as chosen by representatives of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
