Flynn,
Hantel named NCBWA honorable mention Flynn, junior a right-hander from Eureka, Cal., pitched a complete game, which included an extra inning, against Dominican University last Saturday. In the 1-0 victory, Flynn struck out 13 batters, walked 2, hit 2 and allowed 8 hits. Flynn was the Northern Athletics Conference Co-Player of the Week. Hantel, a junior right-hander from Mount Prospect, Ill., went 2-0 as part of an undefeated week for the Cougars. He started in game one against Dominican on March 28 and allowed just two runs (one unearned) on five hits, striking out five and walking one. Sunday against Rockford, he entered the game in the fourth inning with two on and none out, and he struck out the side to keep the Cougars in front 5-4. Following a rain delay of over three hours, Hantel struck out the next three batters and went on to record 11 strikeouts over six innings. He walked just one, allowed six hits and one unearned run. On the week, he pitched 14 innings with just one earned run (0.64 ERA), 16 strikeouts and two walks. Kyle Wewe of Thomas More College was named Nation Pitcher of the Week as chosen by representatives of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
