Edgewood College men’s
basketball to play exhibition game at UW-Madison “I have tremendous respect for [UW head coach] Bo Ryan and his staff at Wisconsin,” said Edgewood College head coach Todd Adrian. “Wisconsin is one of the top collegiate programs in the nation. We are appreciative of this special opportunity for our student-athletes and the entire Edgewood College community. Edgewood College is a member of the Northern Athletics Conference and NCAA Division III. The Eagles completed their 20th consecutive winning season in 2006-07 with an 18-8 overall record (15-3 NAC), the longest active streak of any collegiate program in Wisconsin. Adrian enters his second season as head coach of the Eagles following a three-year stint as the top assistant at UW-Platteville. He returns four starters and most of his bench from a year ago, including all-America candidates Charlie Averkamp (New Berlin, Wis.) and Chris DeMarco (Appleton, Wis.). The Badgers are coming off a school-record 30 wins last season, including the program’s first No. 1 national ranking. The exhibition game with Edgewood College is UW’s first scheduled contest of 2007-08 followed by an exhibition game with UW-Eau Claire on Nov. 7. “I really enjoy being able to play schools from our area during the exhibition season,” Ryan said. “I have tremendous respect for both Coach Adrian and [UW-Eau Claire’s] Coach Gibbons. I know both games will be well-played and great learning opportunities for our players.” Single-game tickets will go on sale at the UW Athletic Ticket Office on Monday, Oct. 22. For more information on tickets please call the ticket office at 1-800-GO-BADGERS. Courtesy of Edgewood College, Sports Information Department, August 7, 2007. |
