Benedictine's Curtis receives national weekly award
LISLE, Ill. -- Benedictine University senior center Tamika Curtis (Bellwood, Ill./Nazareth Academy) has been named to the D3Hoops.com national "Team of the Week" for the period of December 31-January 6. The 6'0" Curtis was also named as the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) "Student-Athlete of the Week" in women's basketball for that same period.

It is Curtis' second such national accolades this season from D3Hoops.com. Curtis was previously recognized for the period ending December 2, 2007 as well.

In Wednesday's (January 2) loss at Elmhurst College in a non-conference tilt, Curtis became Benedictine's women's basketball career scoring leader as she finished the game with 22 points to lead all scorers. In Saturday's NAC win over Concordia Chicago, Curtis had 24 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks -- all game-high totals. For the week, Curtis averaged 23.0 points, 16.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 4.0 blocks per game. She also shot over 70 percent from the field.
