Falcon teams favorites in NAC preseason polls
VERONA, Wis. -- Concordia University Wisconsin's men's and women's teams have been picked to win the 2008 Northern Athletics Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships according to the coaches' preseason polls.

The Falcons received six of the nine first place votes in the men's poll for a total of 78 points. Aurora University tallied 72 points and 2 first place votes and was picked second.

CUW finished second to Aurora in last year's indoor championship. Aurora won the event with 186 team points, 30 points better than the Falcons.

In the women's poll CUW received eight of nine first place votes for 80 total points. Aurora received the remaining first place vote and totaled 68 points for a second place pick. Wisconsin Lutheran College was slotted third with 65 points.

The Falcon women won last year's championship with an astounding 213.5 points. Wisconsin Lutheran was the 2007 runner-up totaling 122.5 points.

Concordia University Wisconsin and Rockford College began their season last weekend at the University of Wisconsin Badger Track Classic. Five NAC schools will compete this weekend in three different events. The 2008 Northern Athletics Conference Indoor Championships take place on February 29 in Kenosha, Wis. at the Tarble Athletics and Recreation Center. The NCAA Division III Championships will take place March 14-15 in Ada, Ohio on the campus of Ohio Northern University.
