"Think Pink"

Regents "Think Pink" on senior day
ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford College and Maranatha Baptist Bible College basketball teams will share the stage on Saturday, February 16, 2008 with a very special cause. When the teams meet on Saturday, the Regents will not only celebrate the careers of the seven seniors in the women's and men's basketball teams, but the Regents will participate in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) "Think Pink" initiative, designed to bring awareness to the need for breast cancer research. The games will take place in Seaver Gym on the campus of Rockford College. The women's game will begin at 2:00 p.m., with the men to follow at 4:15 p.m.

The WBCA's "Think Pink" initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The WBCA began "Think Pink" in 2007 as an initiative to raise awareness for breast cancer in women's basketball, on campuses, and in communities. In 2008, nearly 1,000 teams are joining forces to make the 2008 campaign a success.

The Rockford College women's and men's basketball teams will wear "Think Pink" t-shirts during warm-ups. All Rockford College game staff will be wearing the same t-shirts. Officials for both games are also joining NCAA officials around the country in using pink whistles for games during the initiative. All fans attending the game are asked to wear pink to show their support for the fight against breast cancer. "Think Pink" t-shirts and pink breast cancer awareness wristbands will be available for purchase. Donations from the Rockford Health System along with proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales at the game will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Join the Rockford College basketball teams on Saturday, February 16 at Seaver Gym on the Rockford College campus and help fight breast cancer.
