MSOE men, CUW women win Northern Athletics Conference Indoor Track &
Field Championships The Raiders won the men's championship with a team score of 163.5, 43 points better than runner-up Aurora University. The Raiders captured titles in five events including the 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 55 meter hurdles, 4x400 meter relay, and triple jump. Concordia Wisconsin's Phillip Dziatkiewicz (Oconomowoc, Wis.) was named men's Rookie of the Meet. The freshman placed second in both the 200 and 400 meter dash, and was also a member of the 4x400 meter relay team which finished second. Wisconsin Lutheran College's Zach Shiels was named men's Track Athlete of the Meet. Shiels (Johnson Creek, Wis.), a junior, won both the 3000 and 5000 meter runs and placed third in the mile run. Sophomore Adrian Kibiersza of Aurora was named men's Field Athlete of the Meet. Kibiersza (Des Plaines, Ill.) won the men's shot put with a throw of 15.76 meters in the finals, a provisional NCAA qualifying mark. He also placed fourth in the weight throw. MSOE's Larry Gardner was named the men's Coach of the Meet. The Falcon women won three events which included the 400 meter dash, 4x400 meter relay, and the triple jump. CUW tallied 193 points to claim the women's championship, followed by Aurora University (110 points) who finished second, and MSOE (98 points) in third. CUW's Kelly Bertram was named women's Rookie of the Meet. Bertram (Rockford, Ill.) placed fourth in the shot put and sixth in the weight throw. Aurora's Morgan Jacquette (Grayslake, Ill.) was named women's Track Athlete of the Meet. The sophomore won the mile run with a time of 5:26.97, the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:51.04, and the 5000 meter run with a time of 22:13.96. Senior Catherine Chappell of MSOE was named women's Field Athlete of the Meet. Chappell (Lemont, Ill.) won four events at the championship including the long jump (5.52m), shot put (12.83), and the high jump (1.60m). Her 8.92 seconds in the 55 meter hurdles was also good for a first place finish. CUW's Adam Walker was named the women's Coach of the Meet.
