Two teams, two individuals honored in USTFCCCA track and field academic awards
WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced its track and field academic awards for the 2007-08 academic year. Two teams and two individuals from the Northern Athletics Conference have been honored in this year's awards.

Concordia University Wisconsin and Milwaukee School of Engineering were selected as part of the 2008 USTFCCCA Division III Women’s All-Academic Track and Field Teams. CUW had a team GPA of 3.440, and MSOE a 3.410.

The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year award is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements. To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade-point average.

Additionally, the USTFCCCA also announced the men's and women’s Division III All-Academic Track and Field teams. A total of 158 student-athletes representing 70 Division III institutions made up the men’s 2008 All-Academic team, while a total of 232 student-athletes representing 84 Division III colleges and universities made up the women's team.

CUW's Brock Solveson (Oconomowoc, Wis.) was selected as a member of the 2008 USTFCCCA Division III Men’s All-Academic Track and Field Team, while MSOE's Catherine Chappell (Lemont, Ill.) was selected as a member of the women's team.

The USTFCCCA honors Division III individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track and field season. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.
