Softball Weekly Awards

Sara Wagner,
Concordia University Wisconsin

Wagner hit .636 (7-for-11) and had an on-base percentage of .692 as
the Falcons went 4-0 last week. Wagner scored five runs, had eight
RBI and was a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts.
Kristin Borre,
Edgewood College
...5'11...Senior...RHP...Beloit, Wis. (Turner)...
Borre went 3-0 with a 0.74 ERA,
including 14 strikeouts (one walk) and a shutout, in 19 innings
pitched last week as the Eagles went 4-0 against NAC opponents.
Borre had a perfect game through 4 1/3 innings versus Alverno
College and finished with a one-hitter in Saturday's 9-1 victory. In
her next start, Borre hurled a complete game shutout over Wisconsin
Lutheran College in which the Eagles won 2-0. She also had both RBIs
in the victory, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Borre entered the second
game against WLC in a relief role and pitched seven innings to pick
up the 12-9 decision after 12 innings. Borre allowed just two earned
runs all week and help her opponents to a .197 batting average.

Marzolo helped the Stars to a 7-3 record last week as she hit
15-for-25 (.600). The rookie scored eight runs, had four RBI and was
a perfect seven-for-seven in stolen bases. The Stars improved their
record to 7-17 overall and 5-11 in conference play.
Nicole Capone,
Aurora University
...5'4...Senior...RHP...Brookfield, Ill. (Lyons Township)...
On the week in which Aurora went 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the NAC,
Capone was 3-0 with a 0.53 earned run average, two complete games
and one shutout. In 17 innings pitched, she allowed 11 hits (.183
opponents batting average), struck out 13, allowed two runs (one
earned) and walked one.

Roberts kicked off the week with her second no-hitter of the season
in game one of a doubleheader against Edgewood College on Monday
(April 9). She also picked up two more shutouts and six more wins to
finish the week with a 7-1 record. She also tallied 26 strikeouts
for the week.

Kennedy was deadly from both the pitcher's circle and the batter's
box last week as she tallied a 0.84 ERA and a .542 batting average.
In 25 innings pitched she had 32 strikeouts while walking only 9
batters. Kennedy went 13-for-24 from the plate, which included 4
doubles, 2 HR, 9 RBI, and 4 runs. She was also errorless from the
field in 23 chances.

Cebular led AU on the week in which they went 4-2 overall and 2-0 in
NAC play. On the week, Cebular hit .609 (14-for-23) with one home
run, one triple, one double, eight runs scored and four runs batted
in. She had a .913 slugging and .640 on base percentage. In AU's
doubleheader sweep of Edgewood College, Cebular was 4-for-7 with a
home run, triple, four runs scored and three runs batted in.

...6'0...Freshman...RHP...Escanaba, Mich. (Escanaba)...
Roberts played a huge role in helping the Muskies to a perfect 6-0
record last week, appearing in five games and tallying 18 strikeouts
for the week. She pitched a perfect game in the first game of the
Muskies’ double-header with Concordia University Chicago on Saturday
with no walks and eight strikeouts in the 2-0 win.

Bryzgalski pitched
the Cougars to a 3-2 extra-inning win against MacMurray College on
Thursday.
Bryzgalski fanned
10 and issued no walks in notching her second win of the season. The
junior right-hander escaped a bases-loaded, no out jam in the eighth
with two strikeouts sandwiched around a ground ball back to the
mound for a force play at the plate.

Colon finished the week hitting .615 (8-for-13) and a slugging
percentage of .769. She scored four runs, had two RBI and four
stolen bases. In the doubleheader versus Northland College, Colon
had a perfect on-base percentage.

Whitni Genz, Rockford College
...5'3...Sophomore...OF...Rock Falls, Ill. (Rock Falls)...
Genz led the Regents to one of their best offensive performance of
the year in game two of a doubleheader against Eureka College. The
leadoff hitter paced a Rockford offense that tallied 15 hits for the
game by adding 3 of her own in 4 plate appearances. Genz also added
two runs and a RBI. The sophomore added a key run in the seventh
that led to the Regent’s comeback forcing extra innings. In the
eighth, she scored once more to provide insurance as the Regents
went on to take game two 9-5. In game one, Genz was one of the few
bright spots in the Rockford lineup going 2-for-4 with 1 RBI.

Archie was 4-for-6 on Sunday and has helped the Sabres start out 2-0
on their spring trip. She was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs
scored in Marian's 8-3 victory over Monmouth College. In their 8-7
win against St. Scholastica she was 2-for-3 again, this time with 2
homeruns, 2 runs scored, and 5 RBI. Archie also threw out the only
runner that attempted to steal on Sunday from behind the plate.

Archie helped the Sabres go 4-0 last weekend in the Finlandia
University Invitational. The freshman catcher hit 8-for-11 (.727)
with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles, 2 HR, and 9 RBI's. In Marian's 22-0
victory over Crown College on Saturday morning, she was 2-for-3 with
3 runs, 3 RBI's and the a home run. On Saturday, Marian came away
with a 12-4 victory over Northland College where Archie went 2-for-2
with a run scored and 3 RBI. In Sunday's 5-2 win over the College of
St. Catherine, Archie was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored including a
leadoff home run in the sixth inning. In the Sabres' finale, she was
2-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI, where the Sabres came away with
an 8-5 victory over Finlandia.

Senior Kristin Borre and freshman Stephanie Meehan combined to pitch
a no-hitter in Edgewood's 11-0 season opening win over Crown
College. The duo retired 15 of the 18 batters they faced in the
five-inning game and recorded six strikeouts.
